2-Layer PCBs

Two-layer boards are the workhorse of electronics prototyping — one copper layer on each side of an FR-4 core, plated through-holes connecting them. They cover the majority of hobby, IoT, and simple digital designs, and they're the fastest and cheapest boards to fabricate.

When a 2-layer board is the right call

If your design routes cleanly with signals on top and a ground pour on the bottom — or top and bottom routing with vias where needed — two layers is usually enough. Most Arduino-class projects, sensor breakouts, power supplies, and single-microcontroller boards fit comfortably.

Step up to 4 layers when you need a dedicated ground and power plane for signal integrity, when your part density forces traces you can't route in two layers, or when you're running higher-speed digital buses.

What you can specify

Standard FR-4 (Tg 150 or Tg 170), thicknesses from 0.031" to 0.125", 1 oz or 2 oz copper, and your choice of lead-free HASL or ENIG finish. Solder mask in green, red, blue, black, or white, with white, black, or no silkscreen.

Down to 6/6 mil trace and space and 15 mil minimum holes on the standard process — tighter tolerances are available and priced automatically in the configurator.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a 2-layer PCB cost?

It depends on board size, quantity, finish, and how fast you need it. Enter your specs in the instant quote tool to see a full price grid across quantities and lead times — no login required.

What's the smallest quantity I can order?

You can quote and order from a single board up to 1000. Per-board pricing drops at higher quantities as setup costs amortize.

Are your 2-layer boards made in the USA?

Yes. Boards are fabricated by our US partner shop for quick-turn delivery.
